rabbits get a extra flap of skin under there chin from being over weight.
ask your vet as it could be your over feeding your rabbit

it happens due to extra weight gain. And it gains especially under the chin. I think its really cute.

    because they’re sad

That Large amount of flab and fur only occurs on the larger breeds of rabbits after they reach maturity (7months)
it is what they use as a defence mechanism that they use in their burrows stops prey attacking them as when they sit down it covers their face making them look like a ball of fluff

when you castrate an animal its more likely to get fatter
rabbits fat depoits everywhere but most noticeably under the chin

It’s called a dewlap (females only). If you have a male who looks as if he has this feature he is obese. The dewlap is said to be a place where the female pulls out her fur in order to form a nest for a litter. Depending how fat your rabbits are- you may need to clean the area of food and moisture. A rabbit that drinks out of a bowl (rather than a water bottle) can get a dermatitis from all the moisture getting trapped under this pendulous flap. The house rabbit society and ARBA is helpful.

My female Dwarf rabbit has it too but she never had any operations so that can’t be it.

In females it is called a dewlap, the mothers pull out fur from their to line the burrow for her kittens (the proper name for baby rabbits). Males shouldnt have this so i think that might be a sign of being very overwieght and/or the sign of a medical condition. It could coincide with them being castrated/spayed because they have reached maturity at that point. As you point out it doesnt hurt them and it is natural (in females at least) but just like the rest of bunny make sure it is clean and the skin is healthy. If you are concerned about it at all consult a vet – it might be worth doing this anyway with the male(s) to make sure it is just fat – and how to get rid of it if it is excessive and a health risk for mister bunny!
